Brutalism is praised for its bold, raw aesthetic that showcases the honesty of materials and structural elements. Supporters argue that its imposing, monumental buildings convey a sense of strength and permanence, while its focus on functionality and efficiency aligns with modernist principles. However, critics of Brutalism often cite its stark, harsh appearance as being unwelcoming and oppressive. They argue that the use of raw concrete can weather poorly over time, leading to a deterioration of the buildings' appearance. Additionally, some believe that Brutalist architecture can be seen as insensitive to its surroundings, dominating the urban landscape rather than blending in harmoniously. **
