To calculate the keyway connection, you need to consider the dimensions of the shaft and the hub, as well as the material properties. First, determine the size and shape of the key and keyway based on the shaft and hub dimensions. Then, calculate the shear stress on the key using the torque and the keyway dimensions. Finally, check the calculated shear stress against the allowable shear stress for the material of the key to ensure the connection is safe and reliable. **

The keyway is form-locked. This means that the key and keyway are designed to fit together precisely, with the shape of the key matching the shape of the keyway. This form-fitting design creates a secure connection between the key and the lock, preventing the key from being easily removed or turned without the correct key. **

The keyway can be dimensioned according to DIN 6885 by specifying the width, height, and length of the keyway. The width and height of the keyway are determined based on the size of the key and the shaft, while the length of the keyway is typically equal to the length of the shaft. Additionally, the tolerance class for the keyway dimensions should be specified according to DIN 6885 standards. This standard provides guidelines for dimensioning keyways to ensure proper fit and function of the key and shaft assembly. **

A keyway is a slot cut into a shaft, while a feather key is a separate piece that fits into the keyway to create a connection between the shaft and the component it is driving. The keyway is a feature of the shaft itself, while the feather key is a separate component that is inserted into the keyway to create a secure connection. The keyway and feather key connection is commonly used in mechanical power transmission systems to prevent relative motion between the shaft and the component it is driving. **
